If it can be pushed, pulled, punched, poked, rolled, stacked, cranked, or ridden, chances are it would be well received by a busy toddler. Musical instruments and other noisemaking items are also toddler favorites.

Budding Artists. Big crayons are just the right size for little scribblers. Give a set with a drawing pad or supply of blank paper.

The Sound of Music. A sturdy children's tape player is perfect for little music lovers. (As a gift to the toddler's parents, include a generous supply of batteries.)

Burr-r-r-ry Fun. Toddlers would have "snow" much fun in a sleigh with high sides, a seat belt, and a sturdy towrope.

Getting Behind the Wheel. Tiny travelers love foot-powered ride-ins. Each year brings new models for touring tots.

Recess. For outside fun, give a wading pool, swing, slide, gym set, sand box, toy lawn mower, or play gardening tools. An indoor gym, slide, or seesaw allows active play on rainy days.

Finger Play. Pop-up toys, puzzles with large pieces and easy-to-grasp knobs, construction blocks, play telephones, or baby dolls and accessories are other great gifts for toddlers.
